Big Sis
Hi, I’m the oldest of the three sisters (so I pretend to be the wisest!) and the sixth child of twelve siblings. Living in the cold mid-west, I’m in my late 30’s, married to my best friend (who I met when I was nine years old!), and a momma of two. I am a Domestic Engineer (which really just means I’m a stay-at-home/work-from-home mom!) I’m a graphic designer, a writer, a party planner, a home-schooler… I love anything crafty, cooking and baking, and spending time with family.
Life has handed me a few crazy curve balls… and I’ve made a few crazy choices along the way. I struggle with keeping a positive self-image, homeschooling (up to my own high standards), and staying organized. In-between having two healthy children, we have lost two babies to miscarriage. I have a deep desire to connect with and help other women who have gone through this. I love God, I go to church and study the Bible. I believe God has a plan for each of us and that He uses each of us to touch other people’s lives. I like to be open and honest about the mistakes I’ve made and the struggles I’ve gone through… and that tends to keep my close relationships very few. I joke that, “my friends have a two year shelf-life…” But, it’s usually true! In the last few years, I’ve learned about boundaries and how to set them for myself and my family in a healthy way. It has been a slow (and sometimes painful) process… But, there are always growing pains! I’ve learned too much about grief and the grip of depression, and then how to navigate through it.
I hope to connect with you through my blog posts to offer encouragement and grow together.… and to let you know that you’re not the only one that’s struggling with these things!
